Cutaneous collagenous vasculopathy is a rare dermatosis which is clinically indistinguishable from generalized essential telangiectasia but which differs from this and other known cutaneous telangiectatic vascular disorders by striking deposition of hyalinised collagen within the walls of superficial dermal postcapillary venules and by the presence of abnormal bands of collagen (Luse bodies) on electron microscopy. It has been described predominantly in otherwise healthy middle-aged individuals without known precipitant. It is not known to involve other organ systems. |
