An eversion of the lip resulting from contractures involving adjacent perioral skin. The lower lip is much more commonly affected than the upper lip. Ectropion of the lower lip is a particular complication of severe facial burns. Ectropion may also result as a complication of surgery or cryotherapy involving perioral skin, e.g. for removal or destruction of skin cancers. Rarely it may result from genetic skin conditions, especially harlequin ichthyosis. |
